Book combines more than 60 recipes and rich illustrations by artist Mary Rodgers

With her husband Mick, she has produced a village recipe book with a difference.

Alongside the recipes, submitted by residents, the book Wing Village Cakes and Bakes Cookbook is richly illustrated with Mary’s drawings of various landmarks in the village.

This beautiful book has been produced with both professional and financial assistance from Key Publishing.

As Mary says : “ It all began round the supper table when a group of villagers were discussing the forthcoming Sunday teas, an annual summer event in the village hall.

“Fundraising for the hall is an ongoing subject.

“It was suggested that perhaps a recipe book would be a good idea.

The cakes produced by residents for Sunday teas are always much admired.”

Villagers were asked to submit their favourite recipes and Mary offered toi illustrate the book with her beautiful drawings of the village.

Over 60 recipes were collected, some with anecdotes attached and the editing began with members of the Village Hall Committee proof reading and testing.

Chairman Sally Cox and her husband Adrian offered the services of Key Publishing to design and compile the book. The result is a beautiful addition to anyone’s recipe collection.

Mary’s original artwork can be seen when she opens her studio as part of Open Studios in June.

The book will be on sale during Sunday teas which will run from June 26 or directly from Mary Rodgers.

All proceeds benefit Wing Village Hall.
