Record numbers at the 14th Deeping St James Allotment Show




The 14th annual Deeping St James Allotment Show was held on Sunday (August 18) with a record number of people enjoying the event.

On the morning of the show, the sky looked ominous but despite a few spots of rain, it stayed dry and a record number of people enjoyed the afternoon sun.

Guests brought their own food and drink and the allotment chef was on hand to cook the burgers, sausages, and kebabs.

Plot holders were invited to exhibit in various show classes.

An independent judge from Langtoft Allotments Association marked the entries, with first, second and third awarded in each category, with the winners all receiving a seed
voucher.

After the barbecue had been cooked and consumed prizes were presented to the winners by Coun Steve Gilbert, chairman of Deeping St James Parish
Council.

The winners were:

l Best in show – Sandra Bossis, Plot no 46, who received the Swinesmeadow Trophy

l Best Plot – Alan Patrick,who received The Parish Council Trophy.

l Most points in the Show – Pete and Di Wheatley, who was presented with the Branch Bros Trophy.This is the third year in a row Pete and Di have won this trophy.

A good day was had by all with another successful show.
