A team of the region’s cricketing stars has been assembled to take on an all-star lineup during a weekend of charity matches.

The Local Legends XI for the upcoming Sport Bash at Stamford School on July 25 and 26 has been revealed.

The team is led by captain Gareth Evison, of Bourne Cricket Club. He will be joined by John Meadows, of Burghley Park, Ajaz Akhtar, of Peterborough Town, Dave Gillett, of Market Deeping, Andy Hulme, of Stamford, and Graeme North, of Oakham Town.

Also in the team are Robin Vitas, of Ketton Lions, Colan Bartram, of Uppingham, Andy Reynoldson, of Oundle, Henry Carlton, of Spalding, and Jak Garner, of Uffington.

They will face an All Stars XI featuring former England internationals Adam Hollioake, Simon Jones and Andrew Caddick.

Dave Gillett, who has played in the Minor Counties League, said it was an honour to be selected. He added: “I’m proud and privileged to be recognised.

“It’s a bit like the Professional Footballers’ Association awards, where your local adversaries put you forward.”

Dave did not give a score prediction but said he hoped it would be a “good game of cricket”.

The Local Legends vs All Stars game on July 25 will be followed by a Leicester Tigers vs Northampton Saints cricket match on July 26.

One or two-day tickets for the event can be bought at, where full details are available.
