Remembrance services to be held across the area on Sunday

In STAMFORD Sunday’s Remembrance Parade will assemble at 10.40am for 11am in Star Lane and at the War Memorial in Broad Street. The Rev Eileen Bangay will lead the service which will include All Saints’ Church Choir for the first time in many years. The Mayor, Coun John Binder and town councillors will attend.

On Sunday a parade will assemble in Market Street, OAKHAM, at 2pm and a service will be held in All Saints Church at 2.30pm with the Rev Brian Nicholls. Rutland’s Lord Lt, Dr Laurence Howard will take the salute at the marchpast in Crown Walk. Refreshments will be served in Oakham Drill Hall afterwards.

In UPPINGHAM the Remembrance Sunday service will be in the parish church at 10am and wreaths will be laid at the war memorial.

BOURNE’S annual Remembrance Parade will leave the bus station at 10 o’clock on Sunday and anyone wishing to march with it is invited to report to the parade marshal there by 9.45am. Members of the public who would like to lay their own private wreath as part of the Remembrance Service are asked to speak to the stewards at the entrance of the War Memorial in South Street by 10.30am. The service will then commence at 10.45am with the two minutes silence being observed at 11 o’clock and this will be followed by a full service in Bourne Abbey Church at 11.15am at which all the town churches will take part.

In the evening, at The Salvation Army in Manning Road, Bourne, there will be a Remembrance Songs of Praise commencing at 5.30pm with the singing accompanied by a small brass band. Everyone is welcome.

The RBL annual meeting will be at the RBL Club in Burghley Street on Thursday at 7.30pm. Nomination forms for officers and the committee can be obtained from the club or by ringing secretary David Staples on 01778 423121.

THE DEEPINGS’ Remembrance Sunday parade will assemble in the Rainbow car park at 9.15am for 9.30am. A service will be held in St Guthlac’s Church at 10am and the parade will reassemble afterwards. Poppy sellers will be at Tesco in Market Deeping this weekend.

GRETTON’S Sunday Remembrance Day services will begin at the Spanhoe airfield memorial on the Harringworth to Laxton road at 11am with a short service and wreath-laying ceremony. A service of Remembrance is taking place at Gretton Baptist Church at 3pm and afterwards a parade led by Gretton Silver Band will make its way to the war memorial on the village green for wreath-laying. Everyone is welcome to attend.

CALDECOTT’S Remembrance service will be held in St John’s Church at 10.50am and will be conducted by Peter Cannings of Uppingham.

At MORCOTT the Remembrance Sunday service will be held in St Mary’s Church at 10.55am.

In WELDON the Sunday Remembrance service will begin at the war memorial at 10.45am followed by a service in St Mary’s Church.

LANGHAM’S Remembrance Day service is at the war memorial at 10.45am following the traditional wreath-laying. The service will then continue at the parish church.

COTTESMORE has a wreath-laying ceremony at the Rogues Lane war memorial at 10.15am before the Remembrance Service in the parish church.

LANGTOFT’S Service of Remembrance is at St Michael’s Church at 10am on Sunday.
