Staffordshire terrier rescue dog Poppy, who is in need of a home, got a special treat to mark World Reiki Day.

Veterinary nurse Rebecca Wood, who runs Peace Heal Love and works as a vet at Vets4Pets in Grantham, gave one-year-old Poppy the special treatment, which is said to help reduce pain and relieve tension. Poppy, who belongs to Animal Helpline and is being fostered by Mutts Nutts Dog Rescue in Stamford, has a rare inherited neuro-metabolic disease called L2HGA.

This means she has a wobbly gait and sometimes mood swings. The disease is controlled with steroids and vitamins but it cannot be cured.

In spite of this, Poppy has a lovely disposition and is need of a loving and calm home, either permanently or on a long-term foster basis.

If you think you could offer Poppy a loving home, call Ros at Animal Helpline on 07849 637862 or Terry at The Mutts Nutts on 07802 634050.
