Ricky Locke awarded regional Wedding Magician of the Year at the Wedding Industry Awards
A Bourne-based magician has bagged a top spot at the Wedding Industry Awards.
Despite a quiet 10 months for the wedding industry due to the coronavirus pandemic, Ricky Locke has still found ways to connect with couples.
His reassuring attitude towards customers and crafty magic tricks, have earned him the title of regional Wedding Magician of the Year and also placed him as highly commended at the national awards.
“I’m really pleased with the win,” said Ricky. “The wedding industry is such a big industry which contributes to the economy.
“We are not getting many weddings but we can still shout about ourselves and the amazing suppliers.”
Entrants relied on client feedback as well as social media presence and presentation of themselves online.
Speaking about what sets him apart from other magicians, Ricky said: “I’m getting married, so I completely empathise with couples.
“People may not remember what is said but they will never forget how you made them feel - that is my ethos.
“I want to provide memories that last a life time and to be that talking point in the future.”
It is the first year the Wedding Industry Awards has included a Wedding Magician on the Year category. Previously magicians came under the Special Touch category.
Ricky is currently taking bookings for future weddings which he believes will resume with a limited number of guests this year and ‘as normal’ in 2022.
He said: “My advice is for couples to make sure to get planning their wedding and to get in touch with suppliers.”
“Lots of suppliers are getting booked up so people may be missing out and although the circumstances couples should still plan a special day.
“People may not get the wedding of their dreams if they don’t book now.
“We will have weddings - love is patient.”
