Road safety fears over Deepings service station

Councillors have deferred a decision on plans for a BP service station with cafe and Marks and Spencer shop by the A15/A1175 roundabout near Market Deeping.

South Kesteven District Council planning officer s had recommended approval for the scheme, but members of SKDC’s planning committee last week deferred a decision to obtain more information on road safety issues.

Deepings Independent councillor Ashley Baxter ‘called in’ the application for decision by councillors rather than planning staff as it was a ‘major application’. He also fears its impact on the sole existing petrol station in Market Deeping, with lower footfall also harming other existing town businesses.
