Disadvantaged children were given a special gift this Christmas thanks to the donations of generous supermarket customers.
Tesco in Bourne held a collection for the Home-Start charity during December. The store asked customers to donate a toy as a gift to a youngster.
The toys were collected before Christmas and were handed out to disadvantaged children at Home-Start’s Christmas party.
The Rotary Club of Uppingham also decided to support Home-Start with its own Christmas appeal.
Club president Margaret Simpson said: “The members of the Rotary club of Uppingham are delighted at the response to this, the ninth Christmas present appeal.
“We have collected gifts over the years for Home-Start whose local base is in Melton. These presents will be delivered shortly to local families supported by Home-Start.”
She added: “The response was overwhelming and there was barely room in the car for the volunteers who delivered the presents!”
