A cub scout group was given a special gift of £1,000 on the weekend when it marked its 100th birthday.

Andrew Harwood and Roger Neal, from the Rotary Club of Stamford Burghley, presented a cheque to scout leader Jon Deardon during the celebrations at Burghley Park earlier this month. The money was raised at a concert in April by the Corby Male Voice choir.

The scouts have used the money to buy five ATK All Terrain go-Karts, aimed at boys and girls aged seven to 14, which will be used by all cubs and scouts in the local area.
