The Rotary Club of Bourne has donated money to provide housebound residents in the town with a Christmas meal.

Pictured above are club president Norman Brown, rotarian Richard Wells, Butterfield Centre manager Debbie Hague and rotarian John Lyon during the club’s presentation of a cheque for £150.

The Butterfield Centre, which provides care for the elderly from its base in North Road, will provide Christmas lunches to 28 Bourne residents who qualify under the mobile meals service run from the centre.

Mr Lyon said: “This scheme has received the support of the club for more than 20 years and it is such a worthy scheme.

“Long may it continue to assist those who are housebound.”

The centre provides hot two-course midday meals on weekdays throughout the year.

The service is run by volunteers who deliver the meals to elderly residents in Bourne using special insulated containers to ensure it stays hot, fresh and ready to eat.
