A team of five runners from Rutland will be taking part in the British 10k London run on June 12 in memory of a loved one who was killed in a road crash.

Family and friends of 20-year-old Joseph Tyers who was tragically killed last September in a road crash in Cornwall, will be raising money for Brake, the road safety charity.

Joseph’s father Graham said: ““Joseph was taken from us far too early but he will always be remembered as a caring, loving son who was following his dreams”.

Others members of the team raising money for the Brake charity are Joseph’s younger brother Edward, and close family friends Steve Coleman, Scott Craddock and Scott Peers.

Graham said:“The sheer terrible random nature of the crash has created a massive and lasting hole in our lives and robbed Joseph of an adult lifetime of experiences and we will now never know what he would have achieved.”

Brake is a national charity that cares for road crash victims, campaigns for safer streets and engages communities and schools in road safety awareness.

Lisa Kendall, Brake’s community fundraising officer said: “Every penny raised will put towards our work supporting families whose lives have been devastated by a road crash, and campaigning for safer roads”.
