Rutland blooms as Spring comes early

The region has been bathed in sunshine as we rounded off one of the warmest February weeks on record.

As a result of the Spring-like days, February favourites such as snowdrops and crocuses have looked particularly lovely.

Here we feature a selection of photos by Andy Hunting of Oakham, who has been out and about with his camera.

Andy, 62, who is a retired teacher from Uppingham School, has been taking photos for more than 30 years.

He became interested in photography because of his love of landscapes in particular, but also because he enjoys photographing how humans have had an influence on the world.

Speaking about the photos he sent in, Andy said: “When the weather is nice and spring is beginning to surface, it’s great to get out and about and explore our county, as there’s so much that makes it special and interesting.

“When I came across this scene, it was definitely one of those moments that needed photographing!”
