Rutland County Council hosts recruitment fair for working in social care

Rutland County Council is holding a day-long recruitment fair for anyone who wants to know more about working in social care.

Social care services help people to maintain their health and independence in later life, as well as supporting adults with disabilities and special educational needs.

Coun Alan Walters, cabinet member for health and adult social care at Rutland County Council, says: “Social care work is incredibly important and extremely rewarding. As a social carer, you have the chance to make a really meaningful and positive impact on families. It’s also a challenging career with lots of opportunities to develop new skills, move up into senior roles and gain recognised qualifications.

“This recruitment fair is a chance to start your career in social care. Whether you’ve always had an interest in social care work or are looking for a fulfilling new vocation, we encourage you to come along and find out more.”

Social care services are particularly important in Rutland because the county has a growing older population.

Rutland is regularly identified as having some of the best-performing adult social care services in the country – helping people to stay well and live a full and independent life for as long as possible.

Rutland’s Social Care Recruitment Fair will take place between 10am and 4pm on Friday, February 22, and will be held at the council’s Catmose offices in Oakham.

At the event will be social care providers and employment services from across Rutland., looking specifically for new recruits to work in local communities.

Visitors to the event will have a chance to discuss current job opportunities with the organisations in attendance – some of which will be hoping to recruit on the day.
