People have been urged to seek help if someone they known needs support ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day.

Rutland County Council has developed a range of support materials around suicide prevention and where to go for help. The council hopes to make more people aware of the options available to them to tie in with World Suicide Prevention Day, which happens on September 10 every year.

The World Health Organisation recently released a report calling the prevention of suicide a “global priority”. World Suicide Prevention Day 2015 focuses on reaching out to people and saving lives while also reducing the stigma associated with talking openly about suicide.

To find out more, please contact the council’s mental health inclusion development worker on 01572 758316 or visit www.rutland.gov.uk and search for “mental health”.
