Rutland Lord Lieutenant's garden to appear on BBC Two's Gardeners' World just before NGS opening




The Lord Lieutenant of Rutland Dr Sarah Furness' garden is to make an appearance on BBC Two's Gardeners' World on Friday (May 17).

The show will air at 8.30pm on BBC Two and just two days later, you can see The Old Vicarage in Whissendine for yourself. It will open on Sunday from 2pm to 5pm, as part of the National Garden Scheme.

It is a large garden packed with variety and features: terrace with topiary; formal fountain courtyard; raised beds and small gothic orangery; wisteria tunnel leading to raised vegetable beds and large, ornate greenhouse; beehives and gothic henhouse with rare breed hens- new Victorian style garden room.

During the open garden event, homemade teas will be served in the Lady Chapel of Whissendine Church to raise funds for St Andrew’s Church, or outside if the weather is kind.

Admission to the garden is £5 with children free.
