The funeral of Sir Clifford Boulton will be held on Monday, January 18, at St Andrew’s Church in Lyddington at 11am.

Sir Clifford was clerk of the House of Commons from 1987 to 1994 when he retired. He lived in Rutland for 30 years with his wife Anne and was a great supporter of the Rutland Historic Churches Preservation Trust and was also a Deputy Lieutenant.

He died on Christmas Day aged 85.

Rutland MP Alan Duncan (Con) said: “Clifford was a man of great duty and integrity, who everybody respected enormously. No sooner had he retired than he was immediately called back to serve on the committee on standards in public life. He was a very special local personality.”
