Rutland MP Sir Alan Duncan has resigned as Foreign Office minister
Foreign Office minister Sir Alan Duncan has resigned his role ahead of Boris Johnson's expected premiership.
Sir Alan, Tory MP for Rutland and Melton Mowbray, has publicly backed Boris Johnson's rival Jeremy Hunt.
In a letter to current Prime Minister Theresa May, which has been published on Twitter, Sir Alan says his resignation comes "in anticipation of the change on Wednesday".
He says he did not "seek further ministerial office" but remains "deeply grateful for the opportunity".
He outlines his achievements while in the role saying the Foreign Office "deserves far more recognition (and resources) for the excellent work it does for our country, and I salute all who work in it with such integrity".
Sir Alan also pays tribute to Theresa and her husband Philip, saying: "You deserved better."
