The organisers of Birdfair have taken to Twitter to announce that the Birdfair is cancelled again this year.

One of the biggest events in Rutland's calendar, the Birdfair has been running for 31 years and raised more than £5m for environmental projects in that time. It was also cancelled last year.

It would have taken place at Rutland Water over three days in August attracting thousands of wildlife enthusiasts. Speakers at the event have previously included Chris Packham, Bill Oddie and Simon King.

In a tweet, organisers said: "We regret to announce that due to the continuation of Covid-19 restrictions deeply impacting UK and International travel, public health and the safety of our visitors and exhibitors, we have decided not to host Birdfair at Rutland Water Nature Reserve this year."

The news comes in the second week as it was announced that another of Rutland's huge events, the Rutland County Show, is being rebranded for this year.
