Sainsbury's launches charity partnership
Sainsbury’s Stamford has officially launched a partnership with Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group, its new local charity of the year.
Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group was chosen by Sainsbury’s customers through a public vote in store and online in June. The charity will now receive a year’s worth of support by working with store colleagues on fundraising and awareness raising events.
Representatives from the charity joined Sainsbury’s colleagues over the weekend to kick start the partnership.
Stephen Humphries, community fundraiser at Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group, said: “We’re really excited to have been chosen as the store’s new local charity of the year as the partnership will help us to raise awareness and funds to support research into childhood cancers. Our work supports families across the country such as those being treated by Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Trust and Addenbrooke’s Hospital.”
Matthew Nicholls, store manager, said: “I’d like to thank all of our customers for their support on the day and am looking forward to lots more successful events over coming months.”
