Stamford Welland Academy continues to support vulnerable families in Stamford with Second Helpings Stamford, Christ Church Stamford and The Rapid Relief Team

Throughout the pandemic, staff at Stamford Welland Academy have been working with a number of charities to provide food parcels to vulnerable families in the community.

The charities include Second Helpings Stamford, Christ Church Stamford and The Rapid Relief Team.

The Rapid Relief Team, after wanting to do more for families and individuals affected by domestic violence, designed the food box to act as an emergency food bank for people and families in need, and now supports people from low socio-economic backgrounds, and those in crisis.

Steve Roberts, teacher at Stamford Welland, co-ordinates these deliveries to the school with other staff volunteering their time to deliver these parcels.

He said: “The reason we looked into this was during the first lockdown we had several families in crisis which we wanted to support.

“This has then led to the school working with local food charities to distribute these items.
