Laxton Junior School, in Oundle, rated 'excellent' by Independent Schools Inspectorate

Laxton Junior School, in Oundle, has been rated 'excellent' in all areas by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).

The independent day school for children aged 4-11, part of Oundle School, was inspected over four days in June.

It was found to be excellent in both key outcomes - achievement of pupils and pupils' personal development.

The report found 'pupils of all ages and abilities demonstrate outstanding knowledge and skills across all areas of the curriculum’, confirming the school’s 'fulfilment of its aim to provide a high quality and inclusive education with children’s happiness at the heart of its approach.’

The report also noted 'highly developed social skills' among pupils and the school as a 'safe and welcoming environment'.

It said: "Pupils are proud of their school and want to do well and play an active part in it."

The pastoral provision and children's development as individuals was a key focus.

The report said children had 'very many opportunities to build confidence and resilience', meeting 'the school’s aim to develop in pupils the qualities to succeed and thrive in all aspects of their future lives'.

Sam Robertson, head of Laxton Junior School, said: “This inspection report is testament to the hard work, dedication and innovation of the LJS team, to the enthusiasm and curiosity of our exceptional children and to the ongoing help and support of our parent body.”
