Bourne Academy trust to provide support for The Giles Academy in Boston

The trust which runs Bourne Academy is to provide ‘interim support’ to another school.

South Lincolnshire Academies Trust, which operates the secondary school in Edinburgh Crescent and Spalding, will also support The Giles Academy in Boston.

This follows a request from the Department of Education that they are offered some assistance by the trust.

Headteacher Lucy Conley said: “I am extremely pleased to be able to share the news that the South Lincolnshire Academies Trust has been asked to provide interim support for The Giles Academy.

“This will certainly help the school to make the rapid improvement needed for the young people at the school to be successful.

“I see this interim support period as being an incredible opportunity to bring together a group of non-selective secondary schools in Lincolnshire.

“The schools in our trust are hugely successful, which is what we all want to see for The Giles Academy.”

Chairman of governors at The Giles Academy, Roy Cowern, said: “As governors, we are obviously very disappointed with this outcome and although we do not fully agree that this judgment truly represents our school, we also accept the report in its entirety and recognise that things do need to change.”

He added: “Rather than focus on the past, we want to look to the future and we see this interim support as being an incredible opportunity.”
