Oakham Schoolgirl Janhavi Modak to chair an international committee on the General Assembly at the International Model United Nations Conference in Alkmaar, Netherlands

A talented student from Oakham School has been given the honour of chairing an international committee on the General Assembly at the International Model United Nations Conference being held in Alkmaar, Holland, during the first week in June.

Janhavi Modak, 17, who is currently studying the International BaccalaureateDiploma at Oakham School, has won this accolade after submitting a detailed application to the conference organisers - outlining her suitability for this much-coveted position.

Laurence Ward, lead teacher of MUN at Oakham School, said: "We have been invited to this Conference for over 10 years now, and whilst other students have been invited to chair smaller committees, Janhavi is the first Oakhamian to chair the prestigious General Assembly.”
