Schoolgirl Merryn Fry faces a huge transformation as she pledged to cut her hair for the Little Princess Trust

A schoolgirl will undergo a huge transformation next week when she swaps her long hair for a pixie cut.

Merryn Fry will donate her hair to The Little Princess Trust and hopes to raise £550 for it to be made into a wig.

The charity supports children who have lost their hair through illness or medication.

Nine-year-old Merryn, a pupil at Great Casterton Primary School, wanted to help other people after realising the struggles other young people are facing.

Her mum Donna said: "We don't know anyone who has needed to use this service but Merryn wanted to do something to help other children.

"She has a kind heart."

Merryn will visit her regular hairdresser Lianne Warren for the cut on Wednesday next week.

She hasn't had short hair for years but has grown it during lockdown and opted for a pixie cut to maximise her donation.
