Oakham’s award-winning careers department hosted an exciting, jam-packed programme of events and activities as part of careers week – including welcoming Simon Robinson, founder and chief scientist at the Oscar-winning global software development company, The Foundry, who introduced students to the fascinating world of visual effects.

The Foundry creates visual effects software for the movies, television, advertising gaming and more.

As well as having received a scientific and technical award at the 79th Academy Awards, every film nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, since 2008, has used The Foundry’s software.

Simon showcased the work that some of their clients had done, from Paddington to Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as giving pupils a peek into the offices where blockbusters films are edited, and fantastical visions are brought to life. He is pictured above with some of the pupils.
