Orchard - Fresh Produce stations self-service stand in Dyke

A self-service produce station has appeared in a village to give residents easy access to groceries.

The Bourne-based company, Orchard - Fresh Produce, has put its first self-serve stand in Main Road, Dyke, which will work on a trust basis.

Zac Tyler, owner, said: “It’s to assist the community. They don’t really have a shop there and there’s quite a lot of elderly residents who may not necessarily be able to get on the bus because of reduced timetables, cannot get a taxi or have no family.

“It’s there to be used by the community and whatever doesn’t sell goes back on our hens.”

Zac, who set it up a year ago, rescues birds which have been mistreated and sells their eggs with all profits going back into the wellbeing of the animals or to the British Hen Welfare Trust

As well as stocking a range of eggs, the self-service station also has a range of fruit and vegetables from UK suppliers.
