Children at the ABC Day Nursery, in Tallington, got into the spirit of World Book Day by dressing up as their favourite literary characters.

Tigers, princesses, the Gruffalo and Buzz Lightyear all made an appearance at the premises in Barholm Road on Thursday.

Deputy manager Rachel Burrows said everyone had fun, adding: “The children enjoyed the chance to dress up and to bring in their favourite books.

“We did a lot reading at story time and also did some painting and other crafts with a book theme too.”

World Book Day started in 1995 and is always celebrated in the UK on the first Thursday in March.

Did your children dress up? Send your photos to smeditor@stamfordmercury.co.uk and we’ll publish the best submissions in next week’s paper.
