Love is in the air for a couple who are reminiscing on their life together to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary.
Alan and Eileen Bennett, who live in Sutherland Way, Stamford, tied the knot on 60 years ago yesterday and have enjoyed a lifetime of happiness ever since.
The couple moved to Stamford from Sheffield in 1979, but have lived in countries across the world, including Egypt, Malaysia and Cyprus, when Alan served in the RAF as a flight sergeant and air traffic controller.
They have three sons, Ian, 55, Craig, 53 and Clive, 51, as well as seven grandchildren and two great grandsons.
The couple said they have no regrets and that having a great sense of humour is the secret to a long marriage.
Alan, 80, said: “We both have a sense of humour and still really enjoy each others company. I’m still madly in love. We’ve had to spend time apart when I was serving but I think that only made us stronger.”
Eileen, 82, said: “We’ve had a happy and fun life with lots of travelling.
“We have no regrets about what we have done.”
The couple said they were hoping to get away together this weekend to mark their special occasion.
