Sherrie Hewson opens new dementia suite at Priory Court Care Home in Stamford

A new dementia suite has been opened by a Coronation Street and Benidorm legend.

Sherie Hewson officially opened the six-bed Burghley Suite at Priory Court Care Home on Thursday (March 28) by unveiling a plaque.

She was joined by residents and staff for the unveiling along with Medieval Minstrel Dante Ferrara who provided music.

Charlotte Baines, activities coordinator at Priory Court, said: “It was a lovely afternoon with so many people involved.

“Sherrie is an ambassador for Avery Care (owners of Priory Court) and has a close-link to dementia as one of her family members suffers from it I believe.

“It’s in an area of the where we have made space for the dementia suite and it’s good to see it open.

“Everybody had a great time at the opening.

“There was a nice cake and Dante Ferrara provided some music at the party.

“We’ve named it the Burghley Suite to keep a local link with Stamford which is very nice.

“It’s not yet available for residents to move into but we are open for enquires should people be interested.”
