A children’s choir from Uppingham is celebrating after reaching the finals of two national singing competitions.

Uppingham Children’s Choir have reached the final of the Manchester Amateur Choir Competition for youth choirs.

The community choir made up of children aged 12 years and under from across Rutland will compete at the final’s on Sunday.

They will also compete at the final of the Barnardos National Choir Competition being held at the Royal Festival Hall in London on March 9.

Founded three years ago by musical director, Lesley French and supported by the Windmill House Trust, the choir sings a variety of music and has recorded a number of CDs.

The choir has also performed at many concert venues across the country.

The group rehearse every Wednesday evening at 6.20pm at Uppingham School.
