Skatepark group is considering designs

Members of the skatepark committee fighting for a facility for Bourne are in the process of meeting with designers and contractors.

The Dimension Park Committee met with representatives from Wheelscape on Monday last week and are due to discuss plans with two more design companies before Christmas.

The company 1skatepark will view the potential site with former BMX competition rider and committee member Paul Josh on Monday before a meeting at The Nags Head in Bourne at 5.30pm.

Designers Maverick will discuss designs on December 17.

The skatepartk group, which is in the process of registering as a community interest company, wants young people in the town to go along to hear the design consultations.

A statement on the group’s Facebook site said: “Please try to come along and show your support, this is supposed to be your park after all.

“Otherwise you’ll find it’s the members who attend these design meetings who will be picking the park for you.”

The Dimension Park Committee is working to get a skatepark on the Abbey Lawn on land offered by Bourne United Charities.

The final touches are being made to the group’s application to become a community interest company, which it was advised to makefollowing consultations with Stamford Skatepark Group, which the Bourne group consulted with following its recent success in gaining planning permission for a park on the Recreation Ground in Stamford,
