Community groups could be charged for collections of waste and recycling under new plans being considered by councillors.

South Kesteven District Council is currently reviewing how it collects waste and recycling. One of the options being considered is the possibility of charging community groups, such as village hall committees and scout groups, for collections.

A council spokesman said: “The potential changes are among those that have been considered by a working group and recommended to the communities policy development group but no final decision has yet been made.

“A lot of community group users already take their waste home and if these charges are implemented would not incur a fee.”

The issue was discussed at a committee meeting on November 19. The minutes can be seen at the South Kesteven District Council website.
