Voluntary Action Rutland held its 22nd annual meeting at the Gover Centre in Oakham on October 15.

The audience comprised representatives of its volunteers, trustees and staff and the wider voluntary and community sector in Rutland.

Special guests included Dr Laurence Howard, Rutland’s Lord Lieutenant, and Andrew Brown, High Sheriff, who had kindly agreed to be guest speaker.

The highlights of the event was Andrew Brown’s highly entertaining address, and the award of certificates of commendation to three VAR volunteers and one external organisation activist, Lisa Jackson of Age UK, who, VAR believed, deserved special recognition for their work in supporting the voluntary and community sector in Rutland over the past year.
