An opticians in Stamford says they are ‘overwhelmed’ by donations of glasses they have had from local resdeints in their charity appeal.

Shoppers at Morrisons supermarket have helped Specsavers collect more than 2000 pairs of glasses for the charity Vision Aid Overseas.

The campaign started in May this year and will be happening for the next six months.

Speaking about how pleased they are with the response from the general public, manager Niel MacDonald said: ‘we’ve been delighted and overwhelmed by the generosity of local people. It will go a long way to helping many people around the world who are disadvatanged by poor vision.’

The shop is so pleased with the amount of glasses they have decided to start collect hearing aids which are no longer in use, for the charity Sound Seekers.

The old glasses and hearing aids are recylced by the charities and then the money they make from this then goes on helping those countries.
