Operation Christmas Child appeal is launched at Oakham Baptist Church
Churchgoers are helping vulnerable members of society with projects at home and abroad.
Oakham Baptist Church is supporting the Operation Christmas Child appeal to provide gifts for young people living in difficult circumstances.
Closer to home, the church will host Christmas Day lunch for people who would otherwise be alone.
Suzanne Johnson is coordinating the gift appeal on behalf of the church.
Supporters are asked to fill a shoebox with goodies for a boy or girl aged two to four, five to nine or 10 to 14 years old. It can includes treats such as toys and games or essentials like toiletries and school supplies.
Suzanne said: “Operation Christmas Child is a project I’m passionate about. It’s a very special gift for someone who wouldn’t otherwise receive a present or may not have a good Christmas.”

The packages should not include toothpaste, sweets, lotions and liquids, used or damaged items, war-related items, seeds, gum, food, religious or political literature, medicines, aerosol cans or sharp and fragile items.
