The Rev Stevenson said: "I've run hustings before in London and Coventry. As soon as I heard an election had been called, I thought it would be good to get the candidates in straight away."

He said he hoped for a "calm" debate.

"I hope we get to hear what they have to say and what they will do for the community without them rubbishing each other," added the Rev Stevenson.
