Police news.
Police news.

Police are appealing for information after a man was seen acting suspiciously outside a couple’s home in Stamford on Friday last week.

Spiritual healers Jan and Ralph Ticehurst, called the police after spotting a person at about 3am crouching down on their patio at their home in Empingham Road, Stamford.

The couple were woken by a security light coming on in their garden.

Jan said: “ It was pretty scary, thankfully we have an alarm system and security lights so I was able to see him before he peeked round.

“I banged on the window and he attempted to flee.”

She added: “As the burglar had two attempts to jump over the fence we telephoned the police. As he jumped over the fence he managed to pull the fence down.”

She said the man was dressed in black and balaclava and described him as a “very disturbing sight”.

The couple were put at ease by a calm operator who assured them when they telephoned police.

Police then arrived quickly and confirmed a further patrol car was searching the surrounding area. The A1 patrol car was also alerted.

Jan added: “We would like to put on record how thankful we are to have such an excellent service from our local police.”

The suspicious person was described as wearing dark clothing and a full faced balaclava.

Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious should call police on 101, quoting incident number 32, of June 12.
