A MAN is cycling almost 900 miles to raise money for a children’s charity.

Clive Knox, 50, from Woodhead Close, Stamford, will cover the British Isles from bottom to top in nine days when he rides from Land’s End to John O’Groats for the NSPCC’s Peterborough Business Support Group.

Clive, who works for Alltech UK in Stamford, sets off on his 880-mile trip today and is nervous about the total climb of 40,000ft he will face.

He said: “I’m the wrong side of 49 and not necessarily built for biking so if I’m going to do something as tough as this I decided raising some money for a good cause may just help spur me on.

“I’ve been spending a lot of my free time in the saddle but I am rather apprehensive – there seems to be a lot of climbing on the Cornwall leg that I wasn’t expecting.”

Clive’s journey will take in Land’s End, Okehampton, Bath, Church Stretton, Arnside, Lockerbie, Loch Lomond, Glen Nevis, Dornoch and John O’Groats.
