Cliff Shepherd celebrated his 103rd birthday in style at Whitefriars Care Home in St George’s Avenue, Stamford.

Cliff, who is the oldest member of Stamford branch Royal British Legion, is originally from Yorkshire but moved to the town around 15 years ago to be closer to family.

Until last year, Cliff, a former RAF Regiment Warrant Officer, was still living independently in sheltered accomodation. He has two grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, with another on the way. Daughter Thelma Handford said: “Some family couldn’t make it to Stamford for the day itself so a second party was held on Sunday.”
