Stamford Leisure Pool celebrates 30th anniversary in style

More than four hundred people flocked to Stamford Leisure Pool as the popular venue held an open day to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

The event, which was held on Sunday, marked thirty years to the day that the pool was officially by coun Ian Croft.

As well as the usual Sunday programme of swimming, there was also a bouncy castle, an ice cream van, pizza and cakes, and a variety of children's entertainment including face painting and games.

There was also a special award presented to Christine Arrowsmith, the pool's longest standing member, who was there when the pool was originally opened.

Stamford Leisure Pool general manager Derek Mwale, said: "The day went swimmingly. I would like to say special thanks to all the guests who took the time to share this special day with us.

"I would also like to thank the staff and the local businesses who gave their support to make this such a memorable occasion.

"it was a fantastic community event and I'm looking forward to taking the pool forward over the next 30 years."
