Stamford Library will close for a week so a new boiler can be installed.

Extensive work is required to remove the old boiler and the new system requires changes to the piping on site. But the new boiler will be more efficient, hopefully reducing energy costs.

The library in High Street will close from 4pm on Saturday, March 12, and will reopen at 9am on Monday, March 21.

Libraries operations manager Nicola Rogers said: “There will be no heating on site while the work is taking place and there’ll be significant noise and disruption. So we think it’s best to close the library for that week.”

Loan periods will be extended to take account of the closure.
