Stamford police issue warning after reports of bicycle thefts

Stamford police have cautioned bicycle owners in the town to look after their bicycles following several reports of theft.

Police said they were investigating the incidents, but urged residents to follow some basic safety tips to ensure they did not fall victim to criminals.

These include:

  • Always locking and securing your bicycle;
  • Investing in a good quality D-lock;
  • Secure your bicycle to a fixed post;
  • Use a CCTV monitored area; and
  • Fix a security tag to your bicycle.In a Tweet, police said:

"There have been reports of bicycle thefts in Stamford recently, officers are looking into these."
