Stamford Race for Life at Burghley House cancelled for 2021

Stamford's Race for Life events have been cancelled for this year.

Cancer Research UK had said in January that the events were due to take place in June at Burghley House but with Government guidelines, organisers decided to move all events to Autumn in either September or October.

It's the second year the events will not go ahead - all 400 Race for Life events were cancelled in 2020.

A spokesman for Race for Life said that because of the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, which take place in September, it was not possible to hold the event this year in Stamford.

She said: "With Government guidelines around events taking place Race for Life made the decision to move all events into the Autumn 2021 months.

"Unfortunately Burghley House cannot host us in these months as the Burghley Horse Trials, which take place in September, takes over most of the park during these months for both the event build and breakdown as it’s such a large event."

The nearest Race for Life events will take place at the East of England Arena in Peterborough on October 24 and at West Glebe Park in Corby on August 8.

The spokesman added: "We will be returning to Stamford in 2022 with our full event series including Pretty Muddy Kids, Muddy Middy, race for Life 5k, 10k and a new 3k event."
