Traffic was backed up in Stamford after a van hit a zebra crossing.

The accident happened in Wharf Road at about 8am this morning (December 11) and also involved a car.

Fire and ambulance services were called but fortunately no-one was injured.

The van ended up on its side and the light post of the zebra crossing was knocked over.

Wharf Road was closed between High Street St Martin’s and St Leonard’s Street, which caused tailbacks through the town centre.
