Visitors to the Stamford Festival learned a little about history during a visit to the town hall.
Stamford Town Council held the open day at the town hall in St Mary’s Hill on Saturday as part of the Stamford Festival,
There was an exhibition of the council’s extensive archive collection of rare and historical documents.
A vintage monochrome slideshow, showing how Stamford has grown and developed over the last two centuries, proved very popular and the dungeons with the old jail cells were a great attraction. Many visitors took the opportunity to enjoy the welcome refreshments on offer for which donations were collected towards the town hall renovation programme.
There is another opportunity to visit the town hall, meet the mayor and see one of the finest collections of civic regalia in the country during the Georgian Festival weekend, September 27-29 between 10am and 4pm.
