Stars to play in Stamford charity football match

A host of football legends and personalities from stage and screen will descend on Stamford AFC’s Zeeco Stadium on Saturday to raise funds Anna’s Hope, a charity that supports children with brain tumours.

Gates open at 12pm and the match kicks off at 1pm.

The celebrities will attend a gala dinner and charity auction at the Holiday Inn Peterborough (West) following the match, dining alongside members of the public who have purchased places at the meal.

Harry’s Bar in Peterborough will host the after party for the second year running.

Event committee chairman Raph Frascogna said: “The match is always lots of fun and this year our target is to raise at least £10,000 for such a worthy charity.”

Founder of Anna’s Hope, Carole Hughes, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to benefit from this amazing event.

“Every penny raised will help support children in the local region with a brain tumour to help them reach their full potential.”

Some of the stars playing or assisting with the fundraising include ex-England footballers Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock, Paul Konchesky and Des Walker. They will be joined by stars of the big and small screens including Paul Manners of Britain’s Got Talent, actor Tamer Hassan and stand-up comedian Omid Djalli. Match tickets are £5 but anyone under 16 or over 65 will be admitted free.
