Man asks 16-year-old girl to get in his car in North Street West, Uppingham, Rutland




A teenager was asked by a male stranger to get in his car.

The 16-year-old girl was walking along Ayston Road with a friend at about 8.30pm on Sunday, September 22 when a silver car drove past and the driver shouted from the car.

A short time later, once the girl was alone, the same car stopped in North Street West and the driver got out and asked her to get in the car.

The teenager ran off and returned home.

PC Robin Bonell, the investigating officer, said: "The girl did exactly the right thing by running off and reporting the incident to an adult when she got home."

The driver is described as white, aged between 25 and 30 years old, around 5ft 8ins and of a large build.

He had dark blonde hair and was wearing a grey jumper and black jeans.

The man spoke with a local accent.

Leicestershire Police have been reviewing CCTV in the area.

Anyone with information, including those who may have seen the incident or know the man, should call Leicestershire Police on 101 and quote incident 19*512060.

They would also like to hear from anyone who has been approached in similar circumstances.
