Lakeside Healthcare offers digital appointments for patients at its two surgeries in Stamford
A surgery is offering digital consultations for people to access medical advice out of hours.
Doctors at Lakeside Healthcare hope the appointments will help patients who struggle to visit during regular opening hours.
It may also cut waiting times for routine appointments as spaces are currently available for every session.
GP partner Dr Tom Eames said: "This allows patients to see a GP without having to travel in to the surgery, using a device they already have in their pocket, saving travel time and money.
“There will be patients who don’t want a digital service and that’s fine, no one will be made to use it.
"However some people are happy doing most things on computers and it works very well for them.”
Lakeside runs the surgeries in Ryhall Road and Wharf Road. Any of its patients aged over 18 can access digital appointments.
The 10-minute slots are available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings between 6.30pm and 8pm and Sundays between 9am and 1pm.
Patients must apply for a code at the surgery before they can book a slot online.
The service is recommended for straight-forward conditions including acne, emergency contraception, minor infections and stress. Patients will be seen face-to-face if a follow-up is needed.
Dr Eames added: “Whenever we see someone at the surgery we are wary we don’t miss anything and the same is true for this service."
