New outdoor area at Edenham Primary School
Pupils at a primary school returned from their summer break to discover a new outdoor area where they can learn and play.
The facilities at Edenham Primary School include an outdoor classroom, reading shed, stage, bike track and construction pit.
The reading shed, which will be available to use at any point throughout the day, was bought with donations in memory of a former teaching assistant who died at the beginning of 2021.
Headteacher, Michael Pasqualino, said: “The school’s new outdoor area is a great addition and has given the school a real boost after a challenging year due to the pandemic. Access to outdoor play opportunities is essential to young children’s wellbeing and development, so we believe this is a really worthwhile investment in their future.”
The outdoor classroom will be used all year round to enhance the school’s writing and maths provision, particularly for younger pupils.
The facilities include a woodland trim trail which encourages children to be active and is
suitable for all ages to use.
Mr Pasqualino said: “The children have been asking for a trim trail for some time and so I am delighted they were able to include one as part of Edenham’s new playscape.
“As well as being fun to use, these popular natural climbing structures help youngsters improve their physical abilities, balance, and coordination.”
