Teenagers broke into an outdoor pool to take a late-night dip.

Bourne Outdoor Pool has been inundated with visitors during the recent spell of hot weather, but one group chose to ignore the opening hours.

On Thursday evening last week a group of teenagers broke into the pool grounds at the Abbey Lawns and went for a swim at 1am.

They were captured on camera and the police have been notified.

Mandy Delaine-Smith, chairperson of the Bourne Outdoor Swimming Pool committee, said: “It was pitch black and so dangerous.

“We do everything we can to keep people safe when they visit, but these boys obviously didn’t realise how dangerous this could be.”

Earlier this week temperatures topped 30 degrees, and the mercury is set to rise again.

Amber weather warnings are in place from Sunday (July 17) through to Tuesday (July 19) as a result of the predicted extreme heat.

Mandy said: “The pool was absolutely packed at the weekend but it was fantastic to see and the staff were amazing.

“We’ll try to bring in extra lifeguards for this next spell of hot weather.”
